About Me
Ogden, Utah
I'm have been employed as web developer and application security engineer based in Ogden, Utah with over a decade of hands-on experience building web applications. My roots are in PHP — particularly Laravel and CakePHP. I've built everything from community platforms to time-critical emergency tools.
On the security side, I'm currently employed as an Application Security Engineer, with hands-on experience in web application penetration testing. I believe my experience on the security side of the fence makes me a better developer when it comes to writing secure code from the start.
Beyond PHP, I'm comfortable with Python and I'm actively trying to build some applications in SvelteKit and Next.js to strengthen my knowledge with javascript frameworks as well. I can manage Linux servers to host an application or database, or can manage serverless infrastructure.
I care about writing code that's clean, maintainable, and secure.
When I'm not at a keyboard, you'll find me flying airplanes, riding motorcycles, losing at bar trivia, or volunteering for Weber Fridge community breakfasts.

Projects
A selection of things I've built and am proud enough to talk about.

Utah Back Country Pilots Association
The premier destination for pilots to find and share information on hundreds of remote Utah airstrips. Built in 2017 and maintained ever since — it's basically family at this point.

SearchFor.us
An emergency tool built in a single Saturday to help coordinate hundreds of volunteers searching for missing hiker Shelby Campbell. GPS tracks from Strava and other apps were overlaid onto one map so the group could see exactly which areas still needed coverage.

Crowdfund Congress
A civic-tech crowdfunding platform that lets everyday people pool money to outbid special-interest groups and Super PACs on the issues that matter to them. Think Kickstarter, but instead of fidget spinners, you're buying politicians' attention.

Weber Fridge
A community website for a mutual-aid refrigerator in Ogden, Utah — open 24/7, no questions asked. Built to help neighbors find the fridge, get involved, and stay connected to community events.
